Confronting the housing and homelessness crisis in our community.
Together, we can reduce the number of individuals living unhoused and unsheltered in our community, with the long-term vision of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
A.C.T. Now Lane – Who We Are
Discover the spirit behind the movement: why a unified voice matters, how local partners are coming together to drive systems change, and what it means to build a more connected, compassionate community.
Our PROGRESS
- Late 2020: Call to Action as our homelessness crisis grew
- 2021: Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce interviewed 100+ leaders and compiled the learnings in The State of Our Homelessness Crisis report.
- Late 2021-2023: Launched a Business Leaders Task Force (BLTF) on Homelessness with regular meetings to share the research, bring in experts, and educate/engage the business community.
- 2022: Launched a workforce effort: to connect unhoused (yet sheltered) clients who are employment-ready with training, job opportunities and employment supports.
- 2022-23: Continued our research, including hiring EcoNW to collect more local data.
- 2023: Expanded into larger forums to educate and engage business, public and community leaders.
- 2023: Convened a core group of cross-sector leaders to determine if we should build a community coalition to help move this issue forward. We asked: What would make this different? Where should we focus: long-term vs. short/mid-term solutions?
- 2024: Cross-sector group formalized into the A.C.T. Now Lane coalition, creating a shared roadmap and formal steering committee.
