St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County (SVdP) has been intentionally growing their partnerships to provide more resources to individuals and families facing homelessness in Lane County. In response to community need, SVdP has become a super connector — collaborating with other service providers to expand and simplify access to critical services through two new resource centers (pictured above), while maintaining critical emergency programs to keep our neighbors safe during extreme weather events. These initiatives reflect the many ways A.C.T. Now partners, like St. Vincent de Paul, share spaces and resources to advance shared strategies, building out a more robust, compassionate, and coordinated system of care for unhoused community members. Below are more details about how SVdP is connecting individuals and families with needed resources.
Schlies Resource Center: St. Vincent de Paul opened Schlies Resource Center (SRC) near the nonprofit’s Eugene Service Station in the spring of 2025. The SRC serves unhoused adults with centralized access to stabilizing resources offered by a variety of partner agencies, such as Senior and Disability Services, Lane County Mental Health, The Alliance, White Bird Medical Clinic, Ko-Kwel Wellness Center, and more. This new addition to SVdP’s homeless and shelter programs is designed to bring local nonprofits and public agencies together in one space to address the individual needs of unhoused community members more effectively. From job assistance to health services, SRC provides our unhoused neighbors with a one-stop-shop to receive the support they need to stabilize and thrive. After serving 55 clients in its first full month of operation in May 2025, the SRC saw tremendous growth in service through its first year — so much that by May 2026, the total number of clients served in a month had grown to 895.
Murnane Family Resource Center: In July 2026, St. Vincent de Paul Society celebrated the opening of the Murnane Family Resource Center (MFRC) at 1995 Amazon Pkwy. in Eugene. This new support location for unhoused and vulnerable families provides a convenient assistance access point for those working to secure employment, housing, healthcare and more on their path to long-term stability. The MFRC hosts a variety of partner agencies to offer wraparound support and stabilizing services for families on the margins. Participating partners include Oregon Dept. of Human Services, Willamette Valley Behavioral Health, Bags of Love, Relief Nursery, McKinney Vento, and others still to be announced.
Extreme Weather Shelter & Resource Centers: Similar to the Egan Warming Centers that are activated in the winter when temperatures drop below freezing, SVdP operates cooling-center and smoke-relief shelters for unhoused community members and anyone who needs protection from the extreme heat and poor air quality. This summer, SVdP’s Emergency Response Team operated cooling centers from August 4-7 at the Lane County Fairgrounds, with free bus rides provided by the Lane Transit District. SVdP’s emergency shelter operations offered respite from harmful air quality and heat to 111 guests this past activation.
